Overview

ScanBox OCR: Copy Text is a camera-based OCR (optical character recognition) app that lets you point your iPhone at text and copy it instantly. It is built entirely on Apple's on-device frameworks — no third-party SDKs, no analytics libraries, no advertising networks, and no internet connection is required or used.

Data We Collect

We collect no data from you. Specifically:

No account or sign-in is required.
No personal information (name, email, location, etc.) is collected.
No usage analytics or crash reports are sent to us or any third party.
No advertising identifiers are accessed or shared.

Camera Access

ScanBox OCR requires access to your iPhone's camera to scan text. Camera frames are processed entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. No images or video are ever saved, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere — frames are used in real time for text recognition and then discarded.

You can revoke camera permission at any time in Settings → ScanBox OCR → Camera.

Scan History

When you capture text, it is saved to a local history stored in your app's private data container on your device (Documents/scans.json). This data:

Never leaves your device.
Is not backed up to iCloud (unless you have enabled iCloud app backup in iOS Settings).
Can be deleted at any time from within the app using swipe-to-delete or "Clear All".
Is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app.

Third-Party Services

ScanBox OCR uses no third-party services, SDKs, or APIs of any kind. All functionality is provided exclusively by Apple's built-in frameworks: AVFoundation, Vision, SwiftUI, and UIKit.

Children's Privacy

ScanBox OCR does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes in the future, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Because we collect no data, changes are expected to be minimal.
